Welcome to the Los Angeles Air Force Base, home of the Space and Missile Systems Center – the Air Force’s premier space acquisition center.  LAAFB is also the home of the 61st Air Base Wing. Other tenant units include AFOSI Detachment 110 and the 369th Recruiting Squadron.  LAAFB is the only active duty military base in the Los Angeles Area.

SMC's vision is "forging the shape of military space for the 21st century." Located in Southern CA., LAAFB is in the heart of the world's aerospace industry and provides unlimited contact with SMC's defense contractor partners who design and build the space and missile systems the Center procures.

In addition, The Aerospace Corporation operates a co-located, nonprofit Federally Funded Research and Development Center for the Department of Defense. The corporation's primary customer is the Space and Missile Systems Center.

The support facilities of the 61st Air Base Group are available for active duty and retired military members and their families who reside in the Los Angeles basin.  While in Los Angeles, you'll find many attractions you may want to frequent during your off-duty hours. There are several nearby beaches, tourist attractions and restaurants you can enjoy.
